After the success of the SL730 and SL950 models Carrera engineers wanted to create the best of both these models and the result is SL7.  A size medium SL7 frame weighs 830 grams so it is in the middle of 730 and 950 models.  And the rigidity is amazing 97N/mm.  Very simply this bike is extremely light but has superb power and performance.  The SL7 represents the top range of racing bicycle frame from Carrera.  In order to achieve these results Carrera went to Toray Industries and selected T800 and M46J carbon material and then used the EPS (Expandable Polystyrene Shell) technology to orient and compact the carbon fibers.  And like the other SL frames a special graphite epoxy resin is used to hold the frame together and increase the strength of the structure.  Special shapes of the tubes maximize comfort without giving up the stiffness and performance of the ride.  The SL7 frame built with top level components can be built in the 14lb range and at same time has superb stability and performance.  The bike excels in climbing and has great qualities on the descents with confidence at sweeping turns and at speed.  Perhaps no other ultralight bicycle has the complete performance package as the SL7
