Carrera builds the SL 950 model based on the experience of the SL 730 frame.  Using the same graphite based epoxy resin and the same method of vaccum molding and Expandable Polyurethane Shell technology the SL 950 is made more affordable by using a less expensive carbon material.  They use a Pre-peg T700 30 ton carbon instead of the T800 60 ton carbon for the SL 730.  The result is a frame with the same ride characteristics as the top model but a bit heavier.  A very respectable frame weight of 900-950 grams is easy to achieve a complete bike in the 15 lb range and with an incredible combination of quick handling, fast acceleration, easy efficient pedaling  and very good stability while descending
